PEG Access TV

We are part of the Public Education and Government Access TV system here in York PA; www.wrct.tv
We create hyper localize content and allow anyone to express themselves on TV without sensorship and then show it on the local cable system.  We reach 100,000 households in York County.
I would love an app that would allow folks to connect with our station and upload or air content from their smartphone.
In addition, an app that would allow our MMS or Windows Media Stream to be 'watchable' on a smartphone.  We stream our two channels live 24/7 and apparently thier are no android/apple app that will view a Windows Stream.

    I think such a project would be less of a three-month "challenge" and more of a long term commercial venture or a full-scale development effort that gets underway with assurances of pay.
     
    As far as I can tell, there are no Android or iPhone applications that play Windows Media Stream.  This is because Windows Media anything is proprietary format from Microsoft.
     
    Some companies may come out with Android or iPhone media players that support the format you use.
     
    Rather than wait for that, I suggest that you encode and serve your videos in more open formats playable in all platforms to reach a wider audience.
     
    It's about time government and public organizations stop using proprietary technology that leaves non-Windows/Apple/etc. users without access to their services.

    When we began streaming in 2005, we contracted with a 'hosted' service.  We push our streams to Alanta GA and our web site links to this mms stream.  In those days, the most reliable and available media player was Windows. This allowed us to have many 'viewers' without burdening our servers and our bandwith. Obviously technology has changed in the last 6 years.  Who could have invisioned the prolieferation of smartphones and open platforms that exsit today.  More importantly, connecting with 'citizen journalist' other content creators for rebroadcast on our PEG system is the killer app that I am looking for.  Still, it would be nice to share our mms stream with others.
